The Benefits of Nettle

Nettle has been one of the most constant and generous herbs traditionally, and one of the best all-round supporters that we have in the plant world.
Nettle contains histamine which helps with allergic reactions, it also has a long standing reputation for assisting with skin problems such as eczema and acne. This partly due to the way it helps the liver and kidneys to eliminate waste products. When taken internally, the formic acid which causes the sting, helps to calm down allergic responses.

Tea made from stinging nettle contains a number of biologically active compounds with possible health benefits. Nettle is also rich in vitamins A and C, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and chlorophyll.

Decongestants, antihistamines, allergy shots and even prescription medications treat only the symptoms of allergies and tend to lose their effectiveness over time, which means sufferers have to find more concentrated or stronger prescriptions to treat the problem. They can also cause drowsiness, dry sinuses, insomnia and high blood pressure. Nettle has none of these side effects. It can be used on a regular basis and has an impressive number of other benefits most notably as a treatment for prostate enlargement.

Nettle is useful when dealing with allergies and sensitivities, whether respiratory, digestive or for the skin. It can also assist with auto-immune reactions like inflammation as is the case with rheumatoid arthritis
