Most notably, mugwort can be utilized as antiseptic and assist digestive troubles. Due to its bitter qualities it can stimulate appetite, increase nutrient absorption, aid the breakdown of fats and improve digestive function overall. It has been noted to increase bile juices, assist spleen function and to help with intestinal worm infections. Additionally, mugwort can help release tension and improve the lucidity of dreams.
In Chinese medicine the leaves are burnt to extract moxa which aids the release of vital energy and is commonly used in acupuncture.
