Peppermint can also prove to be a valuable remedy for digestive problems due to its antimicrobial and antispasmodic properties. It increases the production of digestive juices and bile while simultaneously relaxing gut muscles. Conditions which may benefit from these actions include indigestion, nausea, vomiting, gas, diarrhoea, constipation, cramps, colic and irritable bowel syndrome. Particularly digestive infections may benefit from this herb and applied to the chest as a rub it can ease respiratory infections.
Applied to the skin it can relieve pain and sensitivity. Peppermint’s painkilling attributes have also been used to help overcome headaches and migraines.
