Description: Comfrey, also known as knitbone, has been used for thousands of years to aid
tissue repair. These may range from grazes, bruises, skin inflammation, insect bites, scars to even improving the healing of bones and ligaments – as the name “knitbone” suggests.
Its anti-inflammatory, demulcent and astringent properties assist this process. In combination with calendula, it can provide as a useful all- round first-aid accessory for any injury, as well as assisting long-term healing.
Internally, comfrey can reduce inflammation of the oesophagus and bowel, as well as peptic ulcers. It can also provide as a helpful addition to a vegan diet as it has high contents of vitamin B12, which is otherwise mainly derived from animal sources.
